Hi Team FF-TCG.Net
Things have gone a bit slow here, lets nip that in the bud
Anyway for those of you who may not know or may have noticed their cards curling, this is kinda normal. HOWEVER - it can be prevented.
Put your premium cards in sleeves! Even those you intend to trade.
Naturally card will absorb the moisture in the air, this causes the card to change shape. You'll never notice a standard card warping because the whole card will change. It'll just look fine. However in the instance of premiums they will curl.
Why does this happen?
Foils curl because they have a layer of aluminium which makes them shiny and pretty. Unlike card - aluminium does not absorb moisture in the air and as such will not change shape because of it. When you have a card changing shape due to this absorption the metal layer will naturally resist this. It is however not thick enough or strong enough to completely prevent the change in shape and as such it causes the card to curl.
Can I prevent this?
Not 100% no, unless you open you cards in space. I would strongly recommend when opening packs to put your premium foils in a sleeve or binder as soon as possible. Ideally double sleeving them or single sleeve then in a binder. This not only protects from curling but also from water splashes. Nobody likes those
But my cards have curled... what now?
All is not lost, although you can't fully turn back the 'damage' caused by curling you can make it less visual. Personally, I find a double sleeve of the affected card and then placing them under some heavy objects will work a treat.
I hope this helps people.
